Employment Standards Methodology

About StatPayCalculator

Democratizing Canadian employment standards calculations through precision software, zero-friction estimation, and transparent labour standards education.

Our Mission

Statutory holiday pay rules in Canada are among the most fragmented and misunderstood employment regulations in North America. Each of Canada's ten provinces, three territories, and the federal jurisdiction operates with distinct lookback calculation windows, qualification thresholds, and premium wage multiplier formulas.

Every year, Canadian hourly, seasonal, and shift workers face confusion around statutory holiday pay because manual calculations are complex and enterprise payroll software is prone to misconfigured lookback rules. We built StatPayCalculator (statpaycalculator.com) to be an independent, free, fast, and transparent educational hub where workers and small business payroll administrators can estimate statutory holiday pay accurately according to jurisdictional rules.

How We Maintain Mathematical Accuracy

  • Jurisdiction-Specific Formulas: Our calculation engine directly encodes the statutory formulas defined in the Ontario Employment Standards Act, 2000, the BC Employment Standards Act (RSBC 1996), the Alberta Employment Standards Code, and Part III of the Canada Labour Code.
  • Strict Privacy: Our core calculations run completely on your client browser. We do not store or transmit your wage data, hours, or pay stub details to any external third party.
  • Proactive Updates: We actively monitor provincial labour ministry gazettes to update minimum wages and holiday schedules immediately as legislative amendments take effect.
